View Full Version : Great fly-in destination (New York/New Jersey)

Warning: adult content. Prudes and john ashcrofts of this group do not read

My buddies and I cannot exactly be described as strip-club frequenters, but
we do enjoy an occasional trip to these, shall we say, places of female form
worship. One rather annoying problem to us purist connoisseurs is that the
otherwise permissive states of New York and New Jersey where we live impose
too restrictive "dress code" on the performers in the aforementioned
establishments.

Fortunately for us, suffocating under the hypocritically puritan legislation
of the Empire and Garden states, the neighboring Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania offers a breath of fresh ass... I mean breast of fresh air...
And it is by air that a private pilot from New York and his friends can get
there!

Anyway, to make a long story short, I discovered a strip club in
Pennsylvania where the girls are good looking and the view is unobstructed.
And, what's most important, this club is within short walking distance from
a GA airport.

Now details: the club is called Scarlets Grand International and it is
literally adjacent to the Queen City Airport (1N9) which is right on the
edge of the inner circle of the Allentown Class C airspace, to the
south-west of Allentown Airport itself. The club is BYOB which offers an
additional convenience to pilots who can bring some non-alcoholic "B" with
them.

Enjoy!

Airport identifier, along with the name of the airport, city, and/or state.

I approve. <g>

Outstanding! Bravo! THIS is the kind of PIREP we could use more of
around here...

A whole new website possibility exists here. You've seen "The $100
Hamburger", right? Just THINK of the names for this website! (I'm
not going there...)

Minnesota is known for outstanding strip joints. Any of 'em within
walking distance of a GA airport, Montblack?

There *are* a couple of nice, um, "perveyors of nubility" near
Davenport, IA (KDVN), but they are not an easy stroll from the ramp. A
courtesy car is recommended.

Not that I've ever been there, mind you...

you?.....
An ad for this place "popped up" during a google search for the Spam Museum.

More proof that I will forever remain single because men are basically pigs.

Don't take it too hard, Emily. Just another in the long list of proofs that
in so many areas of interest, you don't have to have a lot of class to have
a lot of money to spend on an expensive hobby.

Emily, they aren't all pigs ... but you know, a few bad apples can make

I'll have to do some research ...with AirNav!

There used to be an establishment within spitting distance of Detroit Metro
called:

Ooooo. That hurt.

;-)

One good thing, though: We've now proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt,
that Emily is really a woman, and not some 69 year old white guy who
lost his medical, huddled in front of his 386SX...

However, I'm not sure *what* we've proved about John... Lighten up,
will ya?

And now, back to that Spam Museum... There's a strip joint near the
SPAM museum? That's almost too funny to be true! I'm liking this
Austin, Minnesota already -- and I've never been there...

We have GOT to fly there, Jim & Montblack!

Not all, but certainly a few have confirmed it here.

That was the dumbest post to r.a.p that I've seen in a long time. Makes

It's a fun topic: Are there any nudie bars within walking distance of an

KFRG in NY. If you park at Atlantic Aviation on the south side, there's
a fairly high(er) class place called "Cafe Royale" that is walking
distance. However, while the merchandise is great to look at, the view
is not without certain "obstructions."

Anyway, that's what I "heard." ;)

Actually, I *have* taken Mary to a strip joint. Of course, that was
over 20 years ago...but she found it, um, for lack of a better word,
"fascinating".

Strip clubs are a very strange world -- think about it. Nubile,
gorgeous, young women, dancing naked as a jaybird just INCHES from
guys, in the most sexy, provocative way they can concoct -- and the men
are not allowed to touch them! It's truly an amazing sociological
exercise to behold.

I think the thing that amazed her the most was the dichotomy between
"inside" and "outside" the club. "Inside", if you touch any of the
girls, a big guy named "Vito" puts the clamp on you, and you are
unceremoniously dumped in the parking lot. "Outside" (meaning, in the
real world), women are raped and abused every day, with little
recourse.

As opposed to much of our society, women INSIDE the clubs are
incredibly "free". For the few women that are able to dance for the
unwashed masses of men, they can act out their every fantasy, in
perfect safety. It's a VERY strange phenomenon.

And what do the guys get? Torture, mostly. When you're a young man,
they're like throwing a starving dog a rubber bone. Very strange,
indeed.

*sigh* You KNOW I'm old when I start analyzing strip clubs this way.
They used to be just "fun" -- now, I only get to go when one of my
nephews is getting married, and he needs a stag party... (Which,
incidentally, brings to mind the clubs in Seattle, where my last nephew
got married. They were quite excellent, although far from any airport.

Dang, Matt -- have you ever actually *been* to a strip club? Do you
*know* what goes on there?

I'll tell you what -- NOTHING. Women dance, men drink bad coca-colas,
and a lot of dollar bills are put in G-strings. That's it. No sex, no
violence -- hell, often not even any drinking of alcohol, since many
clubs aren't allowed to serve.

Lighten up. If "Emily" wants to posts airports close to Chippendale
Clubs (you DO know what they are, right?), she's free to do so. And
you're free to NOT.

Once, right before I was married. The normal bachelor party event. I
found it rather stupid and boring. Some folks like to watch and some
like to participate. I'm not a watcher...

Why not create a separate ng for you porn folks to use and keep this one

"Porn"? Matt, there's no sex happening at a strip club. None. Zero.
Zip.

I don't know what your definition of "pornography" is -- but mine
includes the occurence of at least one sex act. Anything short of
that is "art"...

Well, in Slick Willy's bizarre world, apparently oral sex wasn't a "sex
act". Thankfully, that era is long gone.

As a sex act, what Monica did for Bill would certainly be considered
"pornographic" (were it to be viewed on stage), therefore, by
definition, it can't be "art".

But that AIN'T what's happening at a strip joint. At least not at the
ones I've been in.

In an effort to find some common ground, Matt, let's explore the
similarities between church and a gentleman's club:

They both:

1. Have a stage.
2. Have music
3. Have ushers
4. Pay no taxes
5. Provide a service
6. Offer free parking
7. Don't serve alcohol (well, some churches serve wine)
8. Are open at odd hours
9. Are constantly advertising
10. Are as old as humanity itself
11. Seemingly put women in a subservient role, yet everyone knows they
are in complete control of everything.
12. You *do* need dollar bills for both.

As an ex-sailor, I can definitely state that there are strip joints in
which the girls will 'entertain' you in a dimly lit private booth
towards the back of the club... Of course, my data is probably close
to 25 years old, but I suspect that things might not be that different
these days... Wherever you find a large concentration of young single
guys who definitely outnumber the female population, private
enterprise will step up to bat...

All justification to now discuss churches in this forum! :-)

I generally keep my faith out of special interest groups like this as I
believe everything in its place and a place for everything. However, if
the desire is to expand the charter of this group, I'll happily participate.

Yes, that is often correct. Only the rose colored glasses folks think
these joints are about art. I about fell out of my chair laughing when

The upscale ones these days have learned that there is more money to
be made selling the illusion of sex than the actual selling of sex...
But that's not to say that there probably aren't still of the old
school style locations still around...

A wise old man once said, "I'm not paying for sex... I'm paying for
her to *leave* afterwards..."

Think about it for a bit and you'll realize that he was right...

Yes, we definitely need to limit the listings to "walking distance"
from the field. Three miles might as well be 300 miles, at 3 AM with
no car...

I wonder -- are there any "on-field" churches?

Or, for that matter, on-field strip clubs?

While not a "strip" club, there is an on-field brothel at Lida
Junction Airport 15 miles east of Goldfield, Nevada. The 6,100' x 80' dirt

Howard Hughes was supposedly a frequent fly-in guest in the late 60's.

Goldfield, the Esmeralda County seat, was, 100 years ago, the largest city
in Nevada. In 1904, Goldfield's deputy sheriff was Wyatt Earp.

Good gracious. No, he's just someone who appreciates excellent

I'll bet there's some sort of government assistance for the

Jay, I have zero problems with men I don't know going to strip clubs (or
brothels, for that matter). What I have a problem with is them acting
like it's totally ok. At least admit that it's piggish.

Well, I KNOW I'm going to regret this, but....what is offensive (or

Or is it only offensive to you when men do it?

Nope, I wouldn't be caught dead at a strip club for women. I just think
there's a time and a place for sexuality, and that's not it. As a
fairly rabid libertarian, I don't care if you do it, but don't pretend
it's anything other than what it really is.

So you're a prude. Got it.

Still, what is actually *wrong* with strip clubs? Or are you against any
social viewing of performances that cater to our emotional or sensual sides?
Sex happens to be one of humanity's strongest drives, so it's only natural
that, along with other things that appeal to our mental pleasure receptors
(sporting events, theater, musical performances, and even air shows), people
might enjoy congregating and allowing someone else to stimulate the sexually
oriented mental pleasure receptors.

I will agree that, especially here in the US but also in a variety of other
places around the world, society frowns upon public displays of sexuality.
But certainly here in the US we have a pretty huge double-standard, both
with respect to how sex is used (see practically any product marketing, for
example) and with respect to how other forms of entertainment are accepted
while sexually-oriented ones are not (see violent movies, or professional
sports such as football or ice hockey, for example).

Being a particularly strong emotional drive, I will certainly agree that one
should be cautious about how one experiences sexual pleasure, whether
directly or vicariously. But that argues for moderation, not abstinence.
Perhaps it IS unhealthy to visit a strip club on a daily basis, whereas
watching several basketball games a week is perfectly safe. But that
doesn't mean strip clubs are inherently bad, or even in any other way
significantly different from the basketball game...it just means they aren't
something you'd want to make a central part of your lifestyle as a
spectator.

Not that I expect any of the above to resonate with your particular way of
thinking. You've already exhibited your own rigid and opinionated view on
the topic, and in my experience people who act like that aren't really ready
to consider alternative viewpoints. They will reject them out of hand,
without any serious consideration at all. But still...I offer it, just in
case, and perhaps as something that you might reflect on in ten or twenty
years, after you've matured a bit and are more open to considering that just
because you may have had bad experiences in an area, or just because society
tells you a certain area is a place for bad experiences, that doesn't mean
that area is actually bad or that you need to follow society's own rigid
rules for dealing with that area.

> I just think there's a time and a place for sexuality, and that's not it.

It may not be the most refined way to express sexuality, but that's not the
question. What's actually *wrong* with it? Just because you're
uncomfortable with the idea isn't justification of the opinion that it's
wrong.

Personally, I think there's a time and place for beating the crap out of
someone, and I don't think that a professional sporting event is the place
to do it. But at the same time, I don't pass judgment on people who enjoy a
good hockey game or boxing match. The atheletes aren't being forced to
engage in events, and they offer something to the spectators that, while I
don't understand, I don't object to, nor do I believe necessarily reflects
poorly on those spectators in and of itself.

Is it true that the particularly "piggish" men may be more likely to be
found at strip clubs? Perhaps. But that doesn't mean that it's true that
going to a strip club is "piggish", any more than it's true that going to a
football game means you're a loud, obnoxious, drunk (even as many loud,
obnoxious drunks seem to be attracted to sporting events).

> As a fairly rabid libertarian, I don't care if you do it, but don't
> pretend it's anything other than what it really is.

A "fairly rabid libertarian" would not go around judging other people's
actions, especially when they don't affect you, the way you are here.

Saying you're a libertarian, and that you're not a feminist, does not
actually make either of those claims true. Your other statements here
contradict those claims quite effectively.

Oh, please. I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand the
difference - although it seems that you wasted a lot of time trying.

And who's judging? Sex doesn't belong in public, plain and simple.
Sorry if you can't understand that, but don't judge those of us who feel
differently.

Here's a clue: if you think you've properly digested everything I wrote in
less than seven minutes, you're fooling yourself.

As for the rest of your post:

"Emily" > wrote in message

> Oh, please. I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand the

Someone like me? Please...you don't know me. You have no idea what
"someone like me" is like.

And "the difference" between what? You quoted my entire post...what
"difference" is it to which you are referring, and what understanding of
that difference do you have that I apparently will never have?

Again, you are prominently displaying your knee-jerk, narrow-minded way of
thinking. You already know everything you need to know, so there's no point
in you actually reading anything anyone else might have to write.

> And who's judging?

You are. When you call someone a "pig" or say they are "piggish", you are
judging. Funny that you feel you can malign people left and right and still
think you aren't judging.

> Sex doesn't belong in public, plain and simple.

Define "public". I might agree that we're better off not allowing sex to be
allowed in any random public area. But strip clubs are not any random
public area. They are a specific place, set aside for the express purpose
of a display of nudity (and in most cases, no sex at all), and are only
"public" in the sense that the general public is usually allowed in.

In that sense of the word "public", why doesn't sex belong in public?

> Sorry if you can't understand that, but don't judge those of us who feel
> differently.

I'm judging you as a narrow-minded idiot because that's how you act here.
Your opinion about strip clubs has nothing to do with it. It's the way you
express your opinion. You haven't once made ANY attempt to justify the
opinion. You just say "that's how it is, and that's that". That's the very
DEFINITION of being a narrow-minded idiot.

If you had said instead "strip clubs are perfectly fine, that's how it is,
and that's that", I would still be calling you a narrow-minded idiot. You'd
just be a narrow-minded idiot who agrees with me instead of who disagrees
with me.

I can, and have, put into words some aspects of WHY I hold the opinion that
I have. You have not. Therein lies the difference, and it's why I cannot
respect your opinion, regardless of how strongly you may hold it.

That's a basic misunderstanding of libertarianism, which concerns itself
only with the limits of government. For example, a libertarian may deplore
racism and try not to engage in it, but would still object to government
laws calling for hiring quotas for minorities.

City Dweller's post is IMVHO, indeed sexist, based on the following:

It assumed all pilots are male and all r.a.p readers are male. It doesn't
say "Single heterosexual male pilot report" (or more accurately: "PIREP
for male pilots who aren't getting any"). Nope. Only warns Former U.S.
Attorney General John Ashcroft and prudes to not read further. So -
presumably women who don't get excited seeing other women nearly naked
are prudes? I would have thought they were merely heterosexual females -
go figure! Nothing like a lead-in that implicitly insults heterosexual
women! Nice job CD!

For City Dweller, only good looking "girls" need apply. (Equity on this
issue would seem to require the presumption that City Dweller be an
Adonis - though if that were the case, one has to wonder why he has to
fly long distances to see nearly naked women. Hmmm.) So it seems that
women don't seem to register in City Dweller's world view as either
pilots _or_ Usenet readers - they only register with City Dweller if they
are "good looking girls" who strip. If that doesn't add up to a sexist
attitude, then nothing does.

In my youth I went a few times to "strip clubs"/"topless bars". The very
first time was in the company of a female friend. After dressing after
her "act", one of the performers came over to our table to chat. It seems
that couples were sufficiently rare that the woman was curious why my
friend was there (my friend was curious - in fact she was the one who
suggested we go there!). But other than that incident, I'd say the
experience in those joints is a waste of money at best, and frustrating
at worst. There are better, legal, and more enjoyable ways to satisfy
sexual desires - but none of them are related to the OP's alleged PIREP.

All IMHO of course.

That sounds like what it used to be to be a Republican ... sigh. Just
as my wife switched from Democrat to Republican a few years ago, we both
may have to switch from Republican in a few more years. I'm just no

Hold on.

Sex is a natural, beautiful thing, without which the human race (as well
as pretty much every other breathing species on this planet) would not
continue to exist.

I am trying to figure out on what basis you make your claims against it.
If it is religious, that's fine, but not everyone subscribes to your
religious beliefs, and each religion seems to have its own opinion on it
anyway. Some religions don't approve of sex even in private unless it is
specifically for the purpose of spawning children. Others only have issues
with sex with relatives and/or animals.

To my knowledge, the Judeo-Christian belief is that sex is indeed a
beautiful thing, ideally for the purpose of spawning children (interpreted
from a Biblical commandment). And while you are not restricted from having
sex that is not specifically for the purpose of having children, you are
not supposed to "spill your seed in waste". It is for this reason that
certain types of contraceptives and self-satisfaction are prohibited.

From there, the religions place a prohibition on "impure thoughts". After
all, impure thoughts *could* lead to wasted seed. (In the Jewish religion,
the impure thought itself is not a sin. I'm not quite as sure if that
holds true in all Christian variations.) In order to protect people from
having impure thoughts, rules of modesty were developed - this is why
ultra-religious Jewish women cover their hair, and always wear dresses
down to their ankles and sleeves down to their wrists - a woman's hair,
arms, and legs are considered sexy and *could* lead to impure thoughts and
ultimately wasted seed. Clearly having sex in Central Park or some other
such public display of sex would also be a problem in these religions. But
NOT because sex is wrong. It is because of the off chance that some guy
might walk by, see it, and think about it all day, and go home and spill
his seed. If this is the belief you subscribe to, I applaud you because
being so religious is very difficult and requires much self-discipline,
especially in today's society.

Strip clubs are not public. They are open to the public with some
restrictions, but there is no risk of someone who subscribes to the
aforementioned beliefs of ever spilling his seed, because he would not
enter a strip club if he was indeed a true follower of the religion.

I'm curious, how do you feel about Prime Time Network Television? After
all, they are much worse than strip clubs in my opinion. They make
Television Shows under the guise of being entertainment, and then include
numerous situation that would lead to impure thoughts, such as adult-
oriented humor, sexual situations, and sexy advertisements. At least with
a strip club, the person who is going in knows that what he is about to
do, and makes a conscious decision to do it. With TV, even the
unsuspecting innocent will be lured in and tricked into having impure
thoughts.

Now THAT is wrong!

I believe your interpretations are clearly more sexist than the original
post. IMVHO...

The original post made no assumptions. It was a public announcement of an
interesting attraction for pilots.

You have managed to make it sexist by creating the distinction that anyone
who might be interested is "male pilots who aren't getting any". But I
think it isn't until you create that distinction that it becomes sexist.
Certainly there are many people who are interested in strip clubs,
otherwise there wouldn't be so many of them in this country. And
presumably, they are not all pilots who aren't getting any, otherwise
there wouldn't be so many HBO specials about them.

There are many announcements of interesting places to visit for pilots. I
appreciate all of the announcements, even if they don't necessarily apply
to me.

For example, some announcements are about hiking and camping spots. I
don't do much hiking or camping, as I am a fat guy with 3 kids including
an 18 month old toddler, and hiking and camping are not real practical for
me. I wouldn't be interested in visiting a hiking/camping spot. But does
the act of posting an announcement about a hiking/camping spot insult me?
Is it a bigoted post that should have included a preface in the title that
the post is only for thin, fit, single people without kids? Should it
insult ALL fat people with young children? Should I start the AFPYC
(American Fat People with Young Children) association to protect all of
the oppressed like myself?

That is ass-backwards if you ask me. People have become so hyper-sensitive
about their unique qualities and about being simply human that we spend
all of our time fine tuning everything we say and do to avoid offending
somebody. And most of the time, that only offends somebody else, anyway.

No wonder it's so easy for us to be terrorized!

No, no, no. Not in the lobby of his hotel. You must think 'outside the box!'

So are many other things that we don't generally do in public. What is
your point?

OK. Here's an "equal opportunity" PIREP. Heidi Fleiss's Stud Farm (where
the male staff will only service women) is being built on the site of the
Cherry Patch Ranch bordello in Crystal, NV. The Cherry Patch has a private
aistrip. Many years ago the handouts along the strip included offers of
free air transportation to the Cherry Patch.

Great website, but I still must say that the Boeing Stratocruiser was

Childbirth.
Breast feeding (although some are more public than others).
Defecation.

well, this depends on culture. Breast feeding is nothing unusual and is
done here (Central Europe) in public and it is seen as a normal thing to
do.

I'd say that dying is a very private thing and not done public.

But sex (depends on definition of sex) is generally a good thing and to
many it gives a kick having sex in public places.

Childbirth is frequently performed in medical centers that are equally as
open to the public as a strip club. There are equally as many television
shows about childbirth as there are HBO specials about strip clubs. And
they generally include much more detail of the human body than the latter.
But I have yet to hear anyone complain about that form of "pornography".

> Breast feeding (although some are more public than others).

Breast feeding is frequently done in public. And I have personally heard
people actually be admonished for suggesting that the mother should "go do
that in private".

> Defecation.

You consider defecation to be a beautiful thing? No wonder you are so
afraid of your sexual desires being publicized! ;)

Oh, and while human defecation is mostly done in private, I frequently
observe humans walking their dogs in the public streets. So certainly the
ACT of defecation is not what need be private, but rather something
specific only to HUMAN defecation that is so embarrassing as to be
private.

It seems to me that you are embarrassed by the human body itself. And if
you're happy with that, that is certainly your perogative.

But you are so embarrassed by it that you consider it embarrassing to
expose childbirth and breastfeeding to the public eye. Not because those
acts are themselves embarrassing, but because it is "trumped" by the
possibility that a "private part" of the human body might be exposed. And
that is sad.

I really don't have issue with any of it personally. I believe in live and
let live - if you want to be embarrassed, go right ahead.

In fact, you might be surprised to know that I do believe that there are
certain limits to sex in public. For example, I would probably be annoyed
if I was walking down the street and saw two people having sex on a bench
on the sidewalk. Especially if I had my children with me.

But that is *quite* a different then trying to say that a clearly marked
strip club is a public display of sex and is "wrong".
