View Full Version : David Clark X11, any pireps?

Any pireps out there for the DC X11 headset? Anyone seeing prices below
$800? As much as I hate the idea of 1 AMU for a pair of Bose, $800 for
the X11, IMHO, isn't all that much of a difference...especially when you
consider the Bose 12 month payment option.

I tried a pair of Lightspeed 30-3Gs a week ago and they were very nice.
Quieter than my older DC ANR headset.

Jack,

I have the DC 20 10XL (the flagship model prior to the X11) and Bose
Aviation X. No question, in my opinion, the Bose is a better headset.
And at .082 AMU a month for a year it is well worth it.

Headsets are a very personal issue for pilots and some of the more
spirited threads involve opinions on them. If you could borrow a set of
Aviation X's to try out then that might be a good way to see if you like
them.

In the X11's defense they appear to be a great headset too. I do like my
20 10XL's, I just like my Bose better.

Jack,
Not to take away from your question about the DC X11 but if you liked the
30-3Gs, but not enough to shell out the big bucks, you may consider a
factory reconditioned 20XL for $300 or add the cell phone/music option for
another $75. If there is a sweet spot in the ANR deal, I think this is it.
I jumped on it for Tami a couple years ago and then added the cell phone box
later. http://www.anrheadsets.com/productsR20xl.asp

Hmmm, this just might be a decent compromise Jim. I'm watching a few
Bose & Lightspeed headsets on eBay to see the final selling price. I
wound up buying my current DC ANR pair on eBay but it took some time.
That's ok though, I'm not really in a big hurry.

I have to agree that Bose has found a creative (and easy) way to own a 1
AMU headeset. Still...that's about 11-12 hours of flying time for me.
I know they're a good unit but, for me, they're more than I think I want
to spend on a headset.

I tried one of the Bose ANR headsets on awhile back... Very
comfortable... Considerably more comfortable than my SoftComm... The
$1K dent in my wallet would not have been comfortable though... As
such, I passed on them... For long flights (i.e. 6+ hours), I could
see them being a bit more enticing, but quite frankly, I just don't do
that many of those length flights each year...

Do an advanced search, check the completed auctions box and you can see what
past autions have brought.

Ah...thanks for the eBay tip Jim.
