Hi,
Except BD-5J does somebody know if there is single-seat homebuilt minijet?
Thanks

Yep! Its not much of a jet, but it is jet powered.

I thin some one built a Cri Cri with 2 of those mini turbines used in
model airplanes. It sort of meets your qualifications. ;o)

Don't know of any single place homebuilt jets with the exception of the
Cri-Cri. There are some two place homebuilt jets around and more
coming:

In addition to the aformentioned cri-cri:
There is someone who modified a self-launching glider to use
a model turbojet engine.
And also a skydiver who strapped two of them to his feet and
acheived horizontal flight for maybe 30 seconds or so.
Both have videos posted _somewhere_ on the web.

There have been a number of turbojet powered self launching glider
modifications over the years. There were also a few pulsejet sustainer
engines, and probably a few turbojet sustainer engines as well.
Regrettably, I can't presently recall were I saw any of them; aside from the
fact that all were in various aviation magazines.
The common philosophical element is that all trade away fuel efficiency, and
possibly some thrust, in exchange for ease of stowage or, in the case of
fixed pylon mounts, reduced drag when not in use. None fly fast enough to
make efficient use of a turbojet when under power--nor does the Cri-Cri.
OTOH, a jet propelled Cri-Cri is obviously a very cool addition to an
airshow.

Peter,
Here is a link to the jet powered "Silent" sailplane.

Two turbojets, to be precise.

Thanks, it looks like a cool site. I've bookmarked it and I'll check
back from time to time.

The biggest problem with building jets as small as the BD-5J is the choice
of engine. There just aren't that many engines out there that will fit in an
aircraft that small, and most of them are old designs. There's a few that
are coming out of the upscaling of R/C model turbine engines, but they're
not quite yet there for manned aircraft. There are other issues which pose
significant challenges, like fuel consumption and cockpit space limitations.
The result is there isn't much of a market for what comes out of all that,
because the aircraft is impractical for anything except poking holes in the
sky, doing airshows or pretending you're a cruise missile.

I like the cruise missile point of view. But not for me.
I agree with old engine designs, but it's the same for airframe.
If you'll have a new turbine with a fuel consumption half (and less than
half price) the Pb will not be the same.
I know some guys with such project. We will see
Phil.
