Ladies and Gentlemen:

Is it not time to move beyond trying to spar with the witless? He can't afford
to fly so he tries to convince us we can't either. Small aircraft are beneath
his contempt.... however he has no ability or experience in them. Large
aircraft are more his forte apparently, uh.... but apparently he has no ability
or experience with them either.

He dislikes the sensations of flying: "they're unhealthy". So why is he here?

BECAUSE YOU CAN"T RESIST ANSWERING HIS DRIBBLINGS.

Control yourself. Most of us are already aware of his lack of ability, desire,
or even the opportunity to get laid. It is unfortunate but that's life.
Somebody always leads the class. Somebody always brings up the rear. Oops...
didn't mean to bring up his nationality. Sorry.

I object to your censoring the writings of others. I do not need you to
tell me what to read and/or respond to. What in the world gave you the
idea that you are the ultimate reference on these matters? MYOB.

mxsmanic doesn't strike me as witless. Naive maybe, but not witless.

I don't care if he posts here. If I don't want to read his posts I'll
just ignore'em.

On the medical issues his ramblings were no less naive or inaccurate
than those of nearly everyone else who posted misinformation. The only
notable accurate medical posts were those by Viperdoc and someone who
signed off as an "RN and other stuff."

Did I censor anyone? I asked a question of the group. Who in the hell are you
to say I can't ask a question of the group? What gave you the idea that you're
the ultimate reference on these matters? So feel free to blow it out your ass.

Although Mortimer has never had a girlfriend or even kissed a

Mortimer would substitute the closest thing he had: his dear and

I agree that it's a waste of time for people to debate with him about
whether real flying is practical, safe, worthwhile, etc. It's a stupid
debate, the sides were chosen a long time ago, and no one's going to change
their minds. We could certainly do without those posts.

But otherwise, what's your problem? He asks questions out of ignorance.
He'd do better to keep in mind the limitations of what he actually knows,
but it's not like he's actually trolling (as far as I can tell). Who knows,
he might actually be learning something.

In any case, it's been my experience that threads that include a particular
person's name in the subject line are often the threads least likely to be
worth starting. So right off the bat, this thread isn't looking good.

I'll "second" that motion.

MXSMANIC appears quite reasonable, when stacked next to Skylune.

I don't mind him asking questions out of ignorance. Haven't you noticed he

It lets him know that somebody has finally noticed what he's doing. Not that he

I don't know about that. Not counting the 16 messages in the thread so far,
I've gotten several emails from some regulars. The behavior has been noted.

My bad.

Having a big warty nose and flat green feet does not necessarily imply a low

His advice on this point was bad, but so were most of the medical
statements by others with regard to depression, anemia, and Lyme
Disease. So I stick by my statement. And yes, I'm qualified to have this
opinion.

I was referring to the statements made by many regarding depression,
anemia and Lyme Disease as being just as stupid as any of his remarks. I
wasn't referring to comments in general on how to deal with the
physician who the OP claimed had misdiagnosed her.

Emily, see where I said "remarks made by many." Don't personalize it.
You were not the only one who said something about anemia. I'm not out
to slam individuals, and I'm not going to start
explaining every medical inaccuracy in that long thread because that
will lead to about a dozen OT sub-threads. I made a suggestion in your
original thread on how you might handle your situation and refrained
from further comment. I'll now try to do the same here: refrain from
further comment, that is. Hope you got your situation resolved.

RomeoMike:

I wish to make two points:

First of all, those who don't care to engage this person MXSMANIC can
always just ignore any questions asked or any replies provided. I
don't understand why so many of you waste so much time and typing on
the matter ... haven't you got anything better to do?

Secondly, and to the point of "statements made by many regarding
depression, anemia and Lyme disease as being just as stupid as any of
his (MXSMANIC) remarks", I take issue with you "Romeo Mike".

I used to fly (Private VFR) until getting Lyme disease almost three
years ago. I am uncertain if I will ever again qualify for a flight
medical at this point, despite the fact that my 13 months of treatment
have provided about 60% relief and I expect to feel "cured" some time
in 2007.

Messages and information I provided to the group and to Emily in
particular are the product of over two years of investigating the
subject of Lyme disease, suffering its disabling effects, and dealing
with often less than helpful or competent health-care providers, who
tossed about a variety of frightening, useless (and incorrect) ideas
regarding my condition (including two unecessary operations - one on my
right maxilla (upper jaw bone) and one on my sinuses) before my fiance
and I finally figured it out ourselves and found a physician who was
willing to order the appropriate tests and then begin treatment.

The symptoms Emily described might well have been attributable to any
number of conditions, but in my well-informed opinion, considering the
protracted length of her feverish state, and her doctor's inability to
quickly identify any simple diagnosis, and considering the horrible
symptoms that can follow leaving Lyme disease untreated (which can
include unremitting facial pain and headache) I thought it prudent
that she carefully inquire with another doctor about the possibility of
Lyme disease, which is endemic in most parts of the United States.

So, if contributors here might exercise a little more restraint before
cracking off about the contributions of others, and indeed about the
character of the contributors, we might all have less frivolous, and
more helpful or instructional posts to read, instead of a seeming never
ending trail of wise-cracks and personal insults.

TFP

P.S. Emily - I hope your health situation has resolved favorably and
you are flying again.
