I am thinking of flying into Hanscom later this week. If I do I will be leaving
late (~10:30, before the curfew).

My questions:

1) What sort of fees are there these days?

2) What sort of security hassles has MassPort dreamed up recently?

3) Are there any extra problems geting to my aircrft after normal business
hours?

Not a curfew, just an extra fee.

You may need a prop lock (check with Signature or JetA to see if it's
required and if they can supply one if necessary). You'll have to be
escorted on the ramp by someone from the FBO.

Check with Signature or JetA. (I fly from Hanscom but I rent planes there,
so I'm not up on the procedures for transients.)

Norwood, LWM, or Beverly would be friendlier choices (for small aircraft).
Uncontrolled fields are also feasible - depends on your destination in
this area.

Oh, just the usual useless nonsense. Every prop plane must have a
prop lock.

You cannot leave a door open on an unattended aircraft
(the door can be unlocked, you just can't leave it open).

Everyone in the SIDA (which is the entire airport!) must be badged
or escorted by a badged person - don't know how they handle
someone who has just flown in (I bet the TSA weenies haven't even
thought of that).

Only airport personnel can escort someone who has forgotten his
badge

Extra? probably not. Still, it'll be more hassle than at other nearby airports.

LWM has some real good points, but no good pubic transport into Boston. But
Hanscom does. <sigh>I'm going to have to phone Signature tomorrow to find out
how bad the situation really is</sigh>.
