It's getting colder out; your bird is trying to conserve fuel. Try
pouring about half a pound of sunflower seeds into it and then try
again.

Yes. On the Baron 58 the flap handle and the gear handle are often
reversed.

Beech was correct in the old airplanes, flaps close to the
throttle and the landing gear a long reach. Mooney went one
better with their gear switch on some models at the top
center of the instrument panel

But Cessna built 5-10 times as many airplanes as Beech so
the FAA adopted the Cessna pattern in Part 23.

I put my flaps down and my longjohns broke the buttons on
the rear.

You know what!? THAT"S why it always wants to turn towards the south! I
just thought it was compass turning error, but I think it's wanting to
migrate!

The cerk comes owt ferst then youse can pour the wine.
