I saw this advertised on ebay

and couldn't help thinking about BWB. I guess it's time to rehash the
subject and maybe warn an unsuspecting buyer.

The thing is, how are you going to warn a bidder? They would have to check
here, and that is unlikely.

Notice they said that they did not have the mast support. That gives me a warm
and fuzzy feeling. Not!

Ahhh...That thing is actually over 5,000# empty and over 8,000 gross
with a useful load of almost 2 tons? That's what the add says.<:-))

That what the e-bay add says when I bring it up on my computer.

And no I don't want it. A nice turbine powered 4 passenger one would
be nice, but I couldn't afford the insurance let alone the chopper.

Look carefully at the figures again...

I don't recall the exact numbers right now but they're something like
550lbs.. Looks like 5501 pounds at first glance but really 550 lbs...

It should be and that's what I expected but I could find no decimal.

I don't think it needs a decimal - the values are whole numbers.

If you go to the eBay page, the text says:

Yeah, that looks a bit confusing with no space between the value (870)
and the units (lbs).

But if you drag the text onto the clipboard, paste it into MS Word, and
then apply the All Caps format (Format > Fonts > Fonts tab > Effects
area), it says:

> EMPTY WEIGHT 515LBS
>
> USEFUL LOAD 355LBS

So that thing that looks like a one in the ones column of a four digit
number is actually a lower-case L in the unit specifier lbs.

So, it's not clear formatting; in fact I consider it to be particularly
unclear. But it definitely isn't specifying four-digit values for the
weights and load.

Some of us "greater than standard FAA pilot weight" folks appreciate
that useful load :-)

Ur right. Even after having it pointed out I still couldn't see it
until I copied it out and spaced the lbs one to the right.
