Two more hours..

I tending to the DC, Cory to the Bose.

We measured the clamping pressure, it is 38 Oz on the DC, 26 Oz on the
Bose (at 6in spread). His head is one inch + wider than mine...

He feels the DC's clamping slightly after 1-1/2 hrs, I am OK... Bose -
Not noticed (either of us) at 1.5 hrs.

He is wondering wether to pay the additional $$$$$ and give up the
Cell/music interface for such a small incremental difference in
comfort.......

Still no difference noticed in the ANR capability in the two
headsets...

You dumped the DC X- 11's? I really to need to know why...They are
much less pressure than the Passive DC's.

No Comparison between the 13.4's and the DC X-11's....

What gets me after an hour or so is the WEIGHT!

The 13.4's are 18 oz, the X 11's and the Bose are 12 oz... :)

And, yes, it is a biggie when it matters....

Most interesting thread.

I tried my new Bose headset today in my 182. Very comfortable - great sound
quality - but I was shocked when I turned off the system. The racket is
incredible.

I don't care about the cell interface as my Blackberry Pearl interferes with
the Com equipment anyways and I have to turn it off - and I don't care about
the music either.

But the dead box possibility means that I'll carry my old DC 13.4s with me
in my bag just in case.

I'll try again on Thursday. Maybe I'll get a pair of DCs on approval and do
a comparison test.

Little foam ear plugs work great as a backup.

I love my Pearl!

It produces static in the headsets if the audio leads are too close
to the phone. Especially the Bose.

But if I keep the wires 12 in. or more away from it, no prob with the
DC X-11

Interestingly, the ILS(GS) transmitter can be heard in the Bose as we
over fly it on approach, nothing in the DC's ....

Just got the pearl myself.. It is the best phone I have owned...
How do you interface it to your audio panel or other input to your aircraft
audio ?

Thanks...

Fab phone.. RIM REALLY raised the barr with this one!

...and the BES version 5 server.... AWSOME!

I just plug the Dave Clark "Cell cable" into the Pearl (the one with
the 3 contacts on the plug), plug the other end into the DC X-!!'s,
and it works like a charm!

Push the "Voice Command" button, tell it who you want to call, it does
the rest...

I do not know of any way to hook it to the audio panel.

I think one could connect the audio from the earphone to the Audio
Panel "in", and use the mic on the Pearl, but I have not tried it...
The receive audio would now go to all Pax unless you have an "Isolate"
option.

Thanks for the continued updates Dave. I find the observations very
interesting. I want to upgrade my older DC ANR set but just can't bring
myself to spend 1 AMU on the Bose. Heck, a new DC X11 isn't exactly
cheap. I've tried a pair of Lightspeed 30 3Gs in our plane and they
were somewhat quieter than my current DCs.
