LOL, with the sun still setting well before dinnertime here in the northern
hemisphere, holding onto night currency seems to occur automatically for
me.

It is those pesky summer months that I have to make a special trip to the
airport to regain currency.

Have a great flight!

Yeah, it's like that here, too. We're hoping to do some flying
tomorrow.

Mary and I *should* get night current one of these days. Hell, it's
dark at 4:45, and stays dark till after 7AM the next day. Seems like
it's ALWAYS dark, at this time of year...

I usually end of doing night currency in early July. Makes for a long wait. :-)

I was looking at last year's log book, and I didn't log any time at night
except for one night-currency flight. Odd, because I actually like many
aspects of night flight.

One of the things I like to do is call (Dallas/Fort Worth) Regional
Approach and request a city tour on a cold clear night. I get a flight
right over downtown Dallas. Beautiful!

I love night flying, some parts of it I like more than daytime flying, other
than the issue of a possible off airport landing!

Anyone ever consider a set of night vision goggles, now available in
sporting goods catalogs, for aiding in selecting an off airport landing site
at night? The price has been coming down, and the quality has been coming
up.

I wonder if they would be helpful enough to consider buying for a private
pilot?

I own a pair of night vision goggles, maybe I'll take an instructor with me
sometime and try it out for grins.
