Fahey, James C.: THE SHIPS AND AIRCRAFT OF THE UNITED STATES FLEET
Washington, DC: Ships and Aircraft, 1950. Sixth edition. Very good in wraps.
Wraps edgeworn, sticker remnant on front, light to moderate soil, former
owner's name on front cover. 48 pages including ship index; measures 6 x
9.25". Illustrated with photos of each class and type.

The Sixth Edition of Ships and Aircraft describes the peacetime Navy of
early 1950, cut to a fraction of it V-J strength but, by a wide margin, the
world's greatest. The booklet lists all vessels on the navy Register as of
January 1, 1950; plus changes announced into June. The ships are arranged by
type and class, by name and serial number. Fleet status is indicated through
the combatant, mine and patrol vessel pages. Unnamed patrol and amphibious
vessels are grouped numerically by classes. Shipbuilding and conversion
programs are detailed within the limits set by security. Currently
operational naval aircraft and mentionable experimental models are
described. Army-owned vessels serving with the Navy-operated Military mental
models are described. Coast Guard planes and vessels are included.
Of special note are early Navy and Marine jets and helicopters.
