We got snow today, and for a while it was falling at the rate of 1
inch every 10 minutes. It was amazing to watch -- and a bitch to keep
up with shoveling...
But 6 inches of ICE? Jeez.

The pireps looked pretty bad down around ORD yesterday. Even the big boys
didn't like it.
It's still too cold and dry to snow here, I think the dew point yesterday
was something like -19. But I suppose that's what will happen up here when
it finally warms up, we'll pay for it one way or another.

What made this storm so unusual was that it was so *cold*. We were
getting absolutely dumped on, and it was still only 5 or 10 above
zero. Very unusual.
Now, we're back in the deep freeze.

Last week I was only kidding, but I really did sit in the lawn chair
yesterday to get some sun. It's freakin' spring down here.

Not so fast... the prog charts are showing a long reaching cold front that
will eventually stall out around the border of Texas and Mexico and I see low
50s and even low 40s in your seven day forecast.
While 40s and 50s might be spring to us in the Northeast US, 9 out of 10
Texans interviewed admitted that 40s is just freakin' too cold to sit out on
a lawn chair and give their face more sun-induced wrinkles.

I recall a couple of bad winters like that in the 1970's along with a nasty
recession. I think about 25% of the population of the Northeast moved down
to the sunbelt.
Dallas was never quite "Texan" ever again... Yankee accents are pretty
much normal here now.

I guess I assumed that the accents in Texas would be Mexican,

I do the K*** AirNav link thing when I see airport identifiers.

The hangar (I'm kicking myself for not buying last spring) is on the far
"south end" five rows up from the bottom - four hangars in that row. "Mine"
is the long white one (30'x65') with a door on each side.
The 1936 Stinson (low-wing) Tri-Motor is out on the ramp at Golden Wings
Museum. Our (blue) EAA Chapter hangar shares the GWM parking lot.

That is a scary sight. I put my home address in and it came back with a
December photo. I can even see my daughter's car when she was down
before Christmas. Who takes these photos????
My first trip to Minneapolis was on business in the '80s and the temp
was -25F with a 20 mph wind. I couldn't see why anyone would want to
live there. And they all wanted me to stay and fish on the ice.

When you find an image you like:
Right click and select "Center map here"
Right click and select "Add pushpin"
Name your pushpin and select "Save"
Mouse over Pushpin #1 in the Scratch pad
Select "Send link in e-mail"
When link opens, select "Switch to birds eye view" (instead of "map view")
Next to the 2D and 3D, is R and H
.....(H drags that zone around as an image, not a map)
