This brings back memories. I was only 3 years old when he was
assinated. In 1998, I was witness to history when "26000" VC 137C
landed at Wright Patterson AFB. I saw what I think was the last takeoff
and the last landing on the USAF Museum runway. 26000 landed on the
main runway and was kept there on the TA ramp for a couple of days. It
then took off and circled the base and landed on the very short museum
runway. There were massive crowds lining the adjacent roads to get a
glimpse of the landing. I believe it is still there on display. I
retired from the AF in 1998 and this was on of my most memorable moments
of my career.

I was an VIP/Presidential Radio Operator for Air Force One and Two during
the Reagan/G.H.W. Bush administration. SAM (Special Air Mission/s) 26000,
27000, 28000, and 29000 were/are some of the most AWESOME aircraft bar none.

I just recently watched "Air Force One" w/Harrison Ford. How hokey was the
movie? Do you think GW could beat up some Chechens? I don't remember too
much of it (I was laughing too hard), do you think they could transfer
people by "breeches buoy" or all bail out? Do they really have a rear ramp?

I recommend you view National Geographic's video of Air Force One. It gives
you a better "feel."
