View Full Version : It's Nice Here .....

TACAN
January 5th 07, 08:12 AM
It's nice being here ... no silly frenchman threatening to dry up
Australia, no silly 911 flag wavers threatening to set fire to everything.
(referring to some strange people in aus.aviation et al)

Only beautiful aeroplanes, blue skies, fresh air, clouds, smell of av-gas,
radial engines, turbine engines and hanger queens.

Can I stay a while ??? .......

G'day TACAN,

I too wonder just what has happened to military & aus.aviation. Here we seem
to be able to monster nasty animals pretty quickly.

Here we are interested in AEROPLANES!!! Nothing more or nothing less.
(except for hangar queens that cause old fellahs heart to race & dream of
his youth)

Your mate Ray O'whatthe****ever tried to politicise certain posts - but he
has been put in his place well & truly. He now actually makes comment,
sometimes banal to say the least. But he is not as overtly political as he
is in the other groups I lurk in.

Makes me wonder what is going on as well.
What is it with that (alleged) french guy - is he the original jean-paul (I
get the feeling he's not) or some wanna be? and what is his problem
really?? what does he hope to achieve - from where i see things, its gonna
be a big nothing.
I have tried reporting him to afp and to his supposed isp - and another
source that i wont mention - i get the impression that they don't care.

But anyway ... all my wingeing not-withstanding .. thanks for having that
friendly shoulder to "cry on" - was having a particularly bad day with son
with cp, and needed a place of refuge.
Thanks also to Alf Blume - I dont have a real flash collection of pictures -
but will see what I can rustle up.

Cheers & Thanks

Hi Alf
Yes Cerebral Palsy - as you know is a generic label for a great many
conditions.
In my sons's case it has been identified as Leigh's Disease. He is 15yo and
just made it to 22Kg weight - not a good combination. We were told by a
neurologist (he had been comparing past and current MRI brain images) that
whatever we do for him is strictly palliative, ie a terminal condition - we
have been fortunate to get him this far. We have had a couple of close calls
over the years.
Nothing wrong with his intellect as far as we know - he is locked into a
body that won't do what he wants it to do. He loves Power Ranger,
Transformers, YuGiHo (one of the current "strange" kids cartoon series). He
enjoys flying as much as his old man :-

Pls ignore the ugly old coot with the grey beard - Craig was pretty tired
at the time, but was really enjoying the flight.

Cheers for now

Just keep the faith. My sister was diagnosed terminal and not expected to
make it to 13, she disproved all the experts by making it to 22. It's the
quality of life that counts, not the duration.

That's wonderful. My sister had some intellect problems but sometimes we
wondered if she was actually the smarter one.

Here's a couple of shots of the kid we adopted who also has Cerebral Palsy.
We lost a 19yr. old in an automobile accident in 1985 and the grief nearly
killed
us.. We had 2 choices with this child, either adopt him or go to his
funeral as his birth mother has 'addictive problems' and was neglecting
him.. We chose adoption knowing that we couldn't take another funeral and
caring for the boy brought my wife through the grief over the loss of our
youngest. He was 3 when we started baby-sitting him and he is 19 now and
mentally maybe 12. He is a joy in our lives and keeps us young. In Mexico
they called him a 'bendición'(blessing) and he certainly has been one in our
lives.. The 'Superman' shot is at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood,
right after we left Mexico. Another "ugly old coot with the grey beard"
with him at Orlando. He enjoys touring museums with me and posing around
the
planes.
Happy New Year to all who read this.

Aaaah Chris, you've taken Graham's comment out of context and have been
unnecessarily offended.

The 'silly frenchman' refers to , who hangs
around aus.politics and aus.aviation. It wasn't a generalisation
against Frenchmen, silly or otherwise.

Ah ok. I didn't know this Turcaud... and it is well like that. In
France, exactly like everywere in the world, we have *******s, and it
seems this guy is one.

But Dave admitt Graham's message was a few agressive for people who
doesn't know the context. Every Froggies are not on aus.politics and

Of course, unfortunately the French have been painted with a fairly broad
brush here. That shouldn't be the case - but unfortunately - it is.

Graham's comment was a little too cryptic, for non members of the two aus.
groups and you couldn't possibly be expected to follow _all_ usenet threads.

Hi Chris
I'm not offended - and certainly no offence meant to the French people at
all - the one exception is a "gentleman" (and I use the term very loosely)
who uses the name sir.jean-paul turcaud.
I know that all French people are not tarred with this brush. :-)

Please have a look at aus.aviation at his various posts and I'm sure you'll
understand what I meant.
His recent posts have been very obscene to say the least - I fact I'm now
very confident that he is not a French national at all - his language (if
you can call it that) seems to be more typical of an Australian or American.
Difficult to explain - but something that was posted by him the other day,
didn't "sit right".
Just leaves me wondering what he hopes to achieve by this masquerade.

Hope this helps - pleasure to meet you.

Kind regards
Graham

When i read my original post - yes it was a bit cryptic - please accept my

It (Turdcard) used to appear on aus.bicycle - we got rid of him; the power

Ok, I just come back from aus.aviation, and easely found some messages
of that guy. I seach on google and yes this guy was French before he
migrates in your nice country in 1967.

Here is a part of an review found on the web:

"Jean-Paul Turcaud is Frenchman who migrated to Australia in 1967 with
high hopes of a good life. After learning English and obtaining a
pilot's licence, he went on to do some mineral exploration in Western
Australia's Great Sandy Desert (GSD). He made some good finds including
Telfer, which has now become the largest goldmine in Australia
(southern hemisphere?). Unfortunately, he was cut out any share of the
action, a fact which has led him to become greatly disillusioned with
Australia, "the land of opportunity".

JP now refers to Australia as the Land of the *******s (LOB) and
maintains it has a nationally instituted moral code throwing back to
convict days and continuing in all Australian Parliaments, ie,

1) Grab and run
2) Never dub a mate
3) When convinced deny.

Its obvious why JP would be annoyed, but what remains curious is why he
would fight for so long without any apparent leg to stand on (legally
speaking). No doubt it all boils down to whether a person is prepared
to accept injustice or fight against it. JPT decided to fight against
it and it has been a long, and often futile battle.

But what really tripped me out is how far he has actually got with his
crusade. Firstly, he has a permanent record in the Western Australian
Parliament of a request for a royal commission by Senator /
Attorney-General Tom Evans who saw irregularities concerning the Telfer
ownership.

Secondly, Bob Sheppard, President of the AMLA (Aust Miners Leaseholders
Assoc) and author, has researched the matter and written a book
detailing his findings. And he thinks JPT has a case.

Finally, there is a record of an interview on ABC radio (Bronwyn Adcock
interview) where details of the affair are laid out and different
people interviewed.

JPT continues to push his views on the internet about this and other
matters."

I also found some messages he sent in French language, and he seems to
have a true mental problem: he seems that he knows everything, about
everything and even about the rest, and considers people who are not in
agreement with his ideas as ****. It is only an idiot more, as there
are tons of it everywhere, and regrettably even more on internet.

Sorry my my poor English, that's hard to explaim some ideas when you
try to do it in another language than yours...

Definitely. The museum at Parafield is the closest one to me, next
time I'm down that way I can get whatever you want. My father (the
chubby guy at left of the Bloodhound's tail) is visiting me in March and we
traditionally do the museum tour.

Incidentally, the Parafield Mirage is the one that landed wheels-up at
Tullamarine in 1974, using the drop tanks for undercarriage. While
the plane didn't look too bad (considering) the RAAF wrote it off anyway.
It was restored a couple of years ago, the elvons look absolutely
original - but are crafted out of marine ply. Most of the damage was
done post-landing by RAAF techs souveniring or stripping parts for other
birds.

Please send me a small example of what you want - and remind me sometime
early March.

Notice: I'm a Mirage fan, but I'm interested with everything which
flies, go on the sea, on a railway, on a road (especially the raod
trains...), etc... In fact, everything which is interesting for scale
modellers. Don't forget something you can see every day is often very
exotic for people from the other side of the world... ;o)
