Yes, I haven't been able to (reliably) use the bogpond news server for some
weeks now.
It has been very intermittent and I have changed over to tera news.
free.teranews.com
Only about $10.00 AU to join - well worth it, as well as more reliable, more
news groups etc

Cheers
Graham

It looks like we can only see posts put up by other Bigpond users.I can
see my original post and your reply Alan but I can not see Tacan's reply
using Bigpond.Service status page didn't show any known problem.

Bigpond users' posts are getting thru all OK. The Bigpond news server is
not receiving posts from the rest of the world.

The bigpond server is porked.
It is only propagating posts from bigpond customers to bigpond customers.
no one else on usenet gets posts.
I am not phoning any more after 1 hour yesterday and 40 min today, plus a
stupid answer to an e-mail :

"Thank you for your email dated 27 Jan regarding problems with news group.

We appreciate that the difficulties you may experience with your BigPond
service can cause frustration and inconvenience. We are committed to
providing you with the highest level of assistance with any technical issues
that may arise in relation to your BigPond product.

We are aware that some of the BigPond customers are having difficulty with
accessing news groups. At this stage, please ask the account holder or an
authorised representative to call technical support on 133 933, so that we
can escalate your details to our server operations team.

If you have any other questions, please visit our Help Centre at
www.bigpond.com/help.

The Help Centre is a handy resource for our members which includes things
such as our Frequently Asked Questions and our new Email Troubleshooter
which has been set up to help you solve all your email problems.

Thank you for choosing BigPond."

Sounds like they're eventually going to dump that "service" (and I use the
term advisedly)
This news group in particular has a much longer retention time.
I've got more time to catchup with Glenn Aldertons posts amongst others.
Not that I go looking for the hanger queens as well. :-p

Turcaud is a Frenchman who did a lot of prospecting in WA years ago.

He claims that he found the huge Telfer gold deposit. He also claims that
BHP and others started mining Telfer and gave him no money nor recognition.

I don't know what the truth is. A book has been written on the saga.

Here is a starting point

That's ok; I just tried sending them an email using one of the electronic
forms on their website - I pressed "Submit" and got "Internal Server Error"
in reply! The whole lot of them are up the pharking Khyber!!

I;m getting the posts from Bigpond here in Seattle via Easynews, so they
appear to at least be getting ~out~ to the 'net.
