Question for Ron - any word on whether and/or when plans will be
available again? All this recent advice to "build a proven design for
your first airplane" ...

There are some problems that the family is trying to iron out right now.
Pete had made his wishes known regarding things like his photo collection
and the rights to the Fly Baby, but unfortunately, they weren't included in
the will. There are some other problems happening which are slowing the
return of the plans to the market.
It will eventually get ironed out, I think. Pete's stepdaughter is
determined that the plans get back on the market (he had spoken to her
about it the week before he died). Mrs. Bowers attorney called me about a
month ago to get information on the plans business. I've volunteered to
help however I can.
I'm hoping the plans will be available again by the end of the year. I'll
keep folks apprised via both my web page:
http://www.wanttaja.com/flybaby
....and the Fly Baby discussion group on Yahoo.

Just got word this evening that a friend of Pete's has started the
detective work to find the originals of the plans and start filling the
existing orders. Letters will be going out to explain the situation, and
plans sets should soon be on their way to those who have been waiting. No
decision yet how the sales will be continuing, but both Pete's son and his
stepdaughter want the plans to stay on the market.

In other FlyBaby news, Margy talked to a guy at Oshkosh who bought N500F
for the purpose of placing it in a museum somewhere.

Yes, Bob Dempster. He's the President of the Washington Seaplane Pilots
Association....
http://seaplanes.home.att.net/
....and is starting a seaplane/floatplane museum at Renton, which was not
only the departure point for Wiley Post and Will Roger's last trip, but the
place where N500F did its forward somersault on its first foray on floats.
Bob is currently building a full-scale replica of the Douglas World Cruiser
"Seattle." The museum will house this plane when it's done. He plans to
put N500F on floats for display in the museum.
