This is the situation with those famous ekranoplans. They are in town
of Kaspisjsk now.
I must go there to photograph them! :-)
This attachment is a prototype SM-6.

I am an old cold warrior, involved more frequently than I probably should
have been, in the issue of this "Caspian Sea Monster" as we described it
from the first overhead photography we had of its construction and testing.
What a delight to see these shots, so many years later, and to recall how
things used to be. Thank you!

I appreciate the closer look provided by the photos. I wonder if there
are any plans to put them in museums?

Google Earth, or Google maps, enter "N 42.882192 E 47.656665" and
then just cruise around that area, mostly due east. Found all three
pictured here I believe, and some hovercraft as well.
There are a lot of spellings of that particular city name, made the
search somewhat interesting...

My pleasure!
These things captured my imagination in childhood and I had a dream to
build my own 4-seater WIG, but limited myself with building paper
model of it :-)
I wish one day these ekranoplans will make its way to a museum.
BTW, Lun', as it says on the web site, can be made flyable again!
