My interest is in aviation history and I am currently trying to find out more about an Italian WWI pilot. This is the first one I've come across. I'd be interested if anyone has seen others. I am hoping perhaps members of the newsgroup can direct me to someone who can help me since it is a picture and it is aviation related.

I believe Italian pilots were considered "specialists" in WWI in much the same way as mechanics and electricians. Any information or advice in finding out more about this licence would be appreciated. I would like to know if there is any way I could track licence #1327 of Arnaldo Pittarino or find out his unit. I may have a better chance of tracking Major M. Jurgens. the senior officer who signed his licence. It seems he was qualified to fly Farman aircraft? 26660 must refer to an article in regulations?

Any information on how to find out more information would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Lorne Bohn
