I met a paraplegic pilot at the SSA convention in Memphis who was
fabricating hand controls for a Blanik L-23. As the founding Director
of Freedom's Wings Canada, I am VERY interested in his work. He
didn't have a card, so i gave him one of mine and he promised to
contact me.
If you are thatpilot, or you know where to find him, please contact
me. My address is cfpeter-at-total.net.

Don't Know him, but a little history... Back about 1970 I modified a
2-33 with hand controls. Many paraplegics flew it. The mod was simple.
A small wheel was mounted at the top of the stick. Turning the wheel
moved the rudder. All other stick movements were normal. A form 337
was all that was needed. The FAA flew the plane and approval was
instant. Fred Robinson

At the former Enstone GC in the UK, we had an L-13 handiquipped for
paraplegic pilot Steve Veness. We later shared Open Cirrus nr 23
which had modified spoilers and rudder controls. Steve flew several
300k flights in it. It was written off by subsequent owners. See
http://classicsailplane.org/Cirrus/Individual%20Aircraft/cirrus23.htm
for an overview.
I don't know if Tony was responsible for the modification to the L-13,
that was before my time, but did the Cirrus mod. In the UK, such
approvals are given by the BGA technical committee. I don't know if
they retain files of approvals, but it may be a place to start. Try
the chief technical officer at www.gliding.co.uk. It may help in
getting a 337 started.
