I took my bike out to "Northerly Island" (Chicago's official name for
Meigs Field) a couple of days ago and took a picture of the field.
Bear with me if I don't get this link right - might have to make a
couple of attempts.

Very sad. After they tore up the field, they didn't have any money to
develop the park. This is government vandalism in its starkest form.

Hell, even its name is a lie! It's not "northerly." It's SOUTH of
the north-south dividing line of the city.

Well, if all you Chicagoans would vote somebody HONEST into office for
a change.....

(maybe some other cities would follow.)

Chicago happens to have the best politicians than money can buy.

Hey, don't knock the good people of Chicago. Most of them do their part
on election day by voting at least two or three times.

Hey-el, they're such dedicated citizens, they even keep voting after they're
dead! :-)

Doesn't matter! As H. L. Mencken said, "People who think we can clean
up politics by putting more honest men in office, probably also think
we can clean up prostitution by putting more virgins in whorehouses."

This country has been voting honest people into office for years. It doesn't
matter how you vote when the whole thing is rigged anyway!

Rigged by whom?
WE the people vote the clowns into office. The clowns then want to
stay there, and they do so by following the wishes of the voters. If
we vote single-issue politics, or to bring home the pork, and write
letters in support of these types of things, we will get what we
deserve.
If, on the other hand, the voters mature and vote for self-
sufficiency, freedom instead of dependence on government, and other
such goody-two-shoes sentiments, that is exactly what we will get.
Supposedly rigged elections, for which Chicago has been famous for
many years, only have an effect on marginal situations. There's no
way a party can rig an election against an overwhelming tide of angry
voters.

My compliments to the photographer, a nice view of the $billions in
condos able to confidently be developed without fear of a wayward
aviator mistaking the street lights of Columbus, Mich., or LSD for
airport landing beacons and doing a Junior 9/111 kamikazi mission. JG

Northerly Island was to be the northernmost of a five island chain between
Jackson Park and 12th Street. You could say it's a lie because it isn't an
island, it's a peninsula.
