Twentieth Annual Captain Zoom April First Parody Press Release.

You've heard of the Polish Virus; "please erase your own hard drive."

Well, Captain Zoom has outdone any parody that I, or anyone else,
could ever write.

Did this count as Zoom's annual anti SnF rant, or is there more to come?

Also, wonder what the real story is on him leaving Florida?

Enquiring minds and all that...

Ducking lawsuits? An excuse to not try getting into SnF?

One can only presume that either this is his April Fools story, or that
business is bad, and he is making an attempt to increase business before
making his last gasp....

No, his SnF rant was on 3-27-07 read Barnstorming 10.0... I think
that he left Florida just ahead of the Polk County Chamber of Commerce
forming up with torches and tar buckets. In reality I believe that he
left for the same reason that he ended up here. He arrived here
because he got Don Jones to bankroll him and this is where Jones was
based at that time. He must have found another fool that will soon be
parted with his money, How else can anyone explain his sudden
windfall, going to hire 30 people , buying a Glassair III and looking
for a Corporate plane. Last time I heard that kind of talk from him
was when he moved to Florida.

As his rants go this one is a pretty good. However if you have been
following his writing for about the last 20 years you can just change
the names and places. He is still talking about himself in the third
person and everyone is wrong but him.

For a short April Fool all he has to do is post his claims for hours
and types flown.

["In the meantime, though, we've got great new digs that put us right
on a lovely little airpark a ways up North, with a great home office,
a nice big hangar right outside the door."] but when i google earth'd

as for the cash to buy the house, the glasair and all the rest, my

It is actually a pretty good website.

Specifically, http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm is the index of news part
of the site and there is a good list of "funny" aviation related April Fools
articles under the 2007/04/01 section.

Some funny stuff there, and if you check the rest of the index, the site and
its incoming news have been updated often in past 3 days. It is not easy
to make a good internet site and keep it up to date, they have done good
work on this. The update pace seems similar to Avweb.

I remember the Zoom usenet wars since the mid 1990s like they were
yesterday. It is a new millenium.

Check it out with an open mind? Really it is not a bad website. The site
could use some editing of Jim Campbell's overly-zealous writing style
however... just an opinion.

I haven't heard any real SnF ranting yet .But my $100.00 reward for anyone who
sees zoom or his plane at SnF and tells me where it is and we catch him still
stands .Might even throw in a fifth of Muzzle Loader for good measure.LOL!!

I respect your opinion, Lee, but the issue for some of us is journalistic
ethics. For example, Campbell wrote a slam piece on a person without
identifying that person as his ex-fiance. And denied the relationship, when
confronted about it in this newsgroup.

Sure, this happened about 13 years ago. But what's to keep it from happening
again? More to the point, how would one *know*?

Is Campbell's continued negative editorial stance against Chuck and CGS the
product of a continual stream of dissatisfied customers, or is that Campbell has
lost all editorial neutrality, where Chuck and CGS is concerned? Is Campbell
supporting the Rocket Racing League through a serious belief in its benefit of
aviation, or because he's slated to fly one of the rockets? Or because of the
"exclusive" coverage ANN is granted?

Again, how do we know?

A whole fifth of M.L, all at one place, in one bottle?

Surely, that must be illegal, or at least demand hazardous materials storage
procedures to become active!

too, he is litigiously involved with an airframe manufacturer whom he
claims, in his april fool rant, has been adopted by angelina jolie.
while that part of the "article" might conceivably be mistaken for an
attempt at humor, "quoting" jolie as having said "the XL2 was even
given a 'Highly Recommended' review by ANN Publisher Jim Campbell
following a 2002 flight test -- the company fell into a troubled state
of affairs in recent years following a series of missed production and
certification deadlines" isn't funny at all, nor is it meant to be.

so, given that it appeared in the april fool rant, are we then to
assume that liberty is doing just fine and dandy, or is the whole
exercise a cheap shot buried amidst other sad attempts at "humor," at
the other side in the lawsuit that you, as writer, editor and
publisher, are involved with?

you decide.

then there's chuck and sun&fun, two areas where his lack of even the
most basic standards of journalistic integrity is nothing short of
astounding.

as for his writing style... let me know when he buys one.

....and never forget his pet rat.

He won't tangle with the good ol boys more than once. They'll just shoot
his ass.

I'm only about half kidding. About a half of the pick-ups you see on the
road are carrying concealed, or not concealed, legally, or illegally.

For people passing through, if somebody cuts you off, or ****es you off,
don't honk your horn at them. The next sound you may hear is shots being
fired.

Sad, but not far from accurate.

Lee,

I put it into the same category that I now put the 60-Minutes TV News
Magazine into after finding out that they faked the story on the AUDI
some years back and then did a similar job on the Chevy Pickup Truck.
Every story they do now must be questioned as to rather it is real or
contrived. The same is true for ANN and Jim Campbell, I don't trust
anything printed on that web site because I can never be certain that
it is factual.

Same for me ,my beef with zoom started with his lack of credibility on what he
wrote and claimed. As I always said "Credibility it was always about

I believe that was NBC's Dateline that did the exploding Chevy Truck trick.
Not much difference, though. Shoddy reporting, misinformation and
obfuscation have become the rule rather than the exception these days.

They are all more interested in ratings and increasing their fees for
ads than telling the truth. I don't put a great deal of faith in any
of the media, especially the news mags. What really gets to me is
when they will play both sides of the fence and then pat themselves on
the back.

this is an improvement. Everyone that I've talked with, that meets that

As a toddler in the early1940's, I was taught
to call my mother's father.... "Dzia-dzia".

Oh, how the long gone memories come flooding back!
Brings more than a simple tear to this old man's failing eyes.

I know what you mean...we used either Dzia-Dzia or Dziadek as terms of
endearment. Ah the good old days. Got kielbasi, szynka, jajka and Babka ready for
Sunday along with beet horseradish. Easter wouldn't be Easter without that good
stuff.

No Urbanski's in my parts all I ever knew was Urbans without the ski. Your
probably thinking of Kenny Swiatowski , Barb Sotowski ,Carol Kowalski or Walter
Wiesniewski, I went to school with them .Also not to forget Ray Strucznski ,Ted
Polanski , Father Szczpinski or Tony Zawistowski my next door neighbor. There's
more but I ran out of consonants :-)

Happy Easter

Chuck,

I stopped by to see Misha, a Polish friend mine today. She had just
finnished making Babka and offered me a piece. Darn, that stuff is good!
For others, it's a sweet Bread/cake with nuts and fruit mixed in. Good
stuff.

Hi Rich
As I always said it's good to have friends and better to have friends that cook
:-) I like Babka with raisens but it's all good. A nice thick slice of Babka
with some homemade maslo (butter) a hot cup of coffee and life is good.

Happy Easter

Dan,
The only skis in my family are.... Jasinskis.

Other than that, Chadukiewicz is the only
other prominent moniker in my family tree.

Kinda' up there with.... Slusarczyk!

P.S.
Anybody up for a game of Polish Scrabble?
