Edwards AFB had a rocket sled that it performed these kind of tests on. :D

I thought of that one, but it never snows there and the vegetation is
different.

it *occasionally* snows up at Edwards.... it's in the HIGH desert.

I beg to differ, it does snow there. It snowed there my very first winter

I thought the test sled was at Holloman AFB? It snows there.
