View Full Version : Looking for info on previous owner of a glider...(James Lovell)
Hi all,
I just agreed to purchase an LS1f. As I was looking through the
aircraft log, I noticed in the late 70's to early 80's, this ship was
owned by a James Lovell in Houston, Texas. Anyone have any info as to
whether this could be James Lovell, the astronaut. Are there any
Texans out there that know if he was flying sailplanes in that area at
the time? That would be pretty interesting if that's that case...
Thanks,
Dave

Well I located Lovell's company but he was traveling. Left word with
his secetery to ask him if he had a glider in the 70-80's here in
Houston.
When she answers me via e-mail I'll post to you.

The James Allen Lovell (DOB 03-25-1928) in the FAA online database does not
have a glider rating.
COMMERCIAL PILOT
AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND
AIRPLANE MULTIENGINE LAND
INSTRUMENT AIRPLANE
Type Ratings
C/LR-JET
There is, however, a James Edwin Lovell who is a Commercial Pilot - Glider.

When immigration is outlawed, only outlaws will immigrate.

Thanks Geoff. Good detective work. James Edwin is probably the
previous owner.
