On May 4, 2007 Luscombe pilots Ron Shank and his father, Duane lost their
homes and their business in the horrific Greensburg Tornado. This family is
known far and wide for their generous contributions to general aviation,
especially in the antique/classic community. The Luscombe List Group has set
up a fund to help these pilots and their families recover. If you would like
to help a fellow pilot, contributions can be made by check and mailed to:

"Shank Family Recovery Fund"
c/o The Bank of Tullahoma
PO Box 850
Tullahoma, TN, 37388

http://www.bankoftullahoma.com/

If you prefer to use your airplane to help the Shanks recover, the Luscombe
Gathering, to be held at Tullahoma, TN, (THA), June 8-10, will be offering
opportunities to make donations for this cause. All airplanes of all kinds
are welcome.

Thank you for helping the Luscombe community look after one of her own.

Sincerely,
Deborah McFarland

What a terrible happening. I understand the grief these people are going
through, after seeing the aftermath of the Xenia Ohio tornado, in 1974.

What kind of business did they lose, and did they lose their airplane, also?

Jim,

Ron and his father owned a local car dealership (not a mega-mart obviously
for the population size). The Ole '39, their 1939 Luscombe that has been in
the family for years, is okay! It's the only possession they have left.

It's ironic that last week Ron was crowing to us on the Luscombe List that
Greensburg has never seen a TFR. Yesterday the President visited and brought
him one.

Thank goodness for that!

I hope they had good insurance on their car dealership. Time for the
insurance people to pay out.

That is a pity. I hope everyone does help him out.

Ironic, huh?
