The Arizona Soaring Assocation is having this weekend's contest series
at Willcox and experienced some stellar soaring conditions on
Saturday.
Mike Parker (not flying the contest) set a tentative open triangle FAI
record for World Class with a flight of 630+ km.
In the contest, Tony Smolder (TS1) won the day flying 408 miles at
94mph in his LS-8. Look for the flights on OLC by Tuesday.
I had three thermals that averaged over 11 knots. It was the best
Arizona day we've ever seen, and reminded a few of us of Ely!
Special thanks to Walden Aviation at Willcox/Cochise County Airport
for welcoming us here and being so accomodating.
