Yup, the F-A/18 in the picture was taking off to fly in circles so the
safety guy in the control tower could report to the Boss about visibility
conditions. It was cloudy, breezy, white and there was almost no blue sky.
Solo #5 of the Blue Angels climbed smartly and started his circles. They
got larger and larger and I guess the was five miles out and still visible
when the rest of the Team rumbled and took off. They did a low show
practice and then went back to the barn.
This afternoon only the two solos practiced. We watched from the back
porch.
