View Full Version : John Travolta The Aviator.

Hi all, I just started a new group on Face Book called John Travolta The Aviator.
The purpose of this group is to talk about John Travolta, a great aviator. There are lots of sites dedicated to his movies but there are none dedicated to his career as a pilot. I'm sure he loves talking about flying as much as he loves talking about his movies, after all what pilot doesn't love to talk about flying.
Go here to join. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2416888723

He's a pilot, but I'm not sure how you would come up with "great
aviator". He holds a private VFR Citation rating and is a SIC private
pilot in the 727.

Actually, it's a 727, and there's no type required in the US for a right
seat.
He might be typed, but he doesn't need to be..

If he truly wants to talk about flying, we're already here.

Go to the FAA website and look him up.
https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/
You'll find he has a Private Pilot - ASMEL with instrument rating. He's type
rated in the 707, 720, CE-500, Lear, and HS-125. Limitations are SIC only in
the 707 and VFR only in the Citation.

What a waste, The performance of a Citation at or below 17,999 must be
wonderful :-) Wonder why he is VFR only on the Citation?

Pretty smart guy, knows his limitations, flies for fun...
I would have thought that whizzing around the country VFR in a
Citation, keeping a *very* sharp look out the window, requires quite a
lot more focus and is more dangerous then just filing and getting up
there in the FLs where you can stay above most of the weather and all
the people like me pottering around sight-seeing at 80 kts.
Or have I missed something?

said 72.

When he needs to go somewhere, his pilots file and he rides right seat or in back...

Which is exactly why I did not say he was SIC type rated.
