Lordy, I run the drinking water in our house through a 5 micron
filter.

We went from well water which was loading the filters up with iron
oxide that was like a cream to city water which loads them up even
faster with something that has little color...probably organic stuff
with the consistency of snot. The filters are slipery. They go from
no pressure drop across the filters to over 15 in less than 6 weeks.
These are the big "whole house" filters.

If you use sintered bronze at 5 or even 10 microns I don't think water
will pass. We have some old funnels with the very fine brass screen.
Just pour the water contaminated fuel through the funnel and the water
stays.
