Four Turbo Prop Connies were built for the Navy as R7V-2's Two were
transferred to the Air Force where they became YC-121F's, except for the
Engines they were fitted out the same as standard production model C-121C's

The engines were Pratt & Whitney T-34-P-6's rated at 6000 Shaft Horse Power.
According to the authors of "Lockheed Constellation by Peter Bowers and
Curtis Stringfellow the idea was to service test the engines and not
necessasarily improve the performance of the Connie.

In another chapter of the same book the engines as shown as being
YT-34-P-12B's (Yes they are talking about the same airframes)

It also appears that one of the two airplanes that went to the Air Force
first went back to Lockheed on bail (SN 133661) where an Allison D-501
engine was fitted to the # 4 position as a test bed for the then in design
Electra. this airplane was returned to the original configuration with the
four T-34 engines and delivered to the Air Force as its second YC-121F. The
two Air Force airplanes were assigned service numbers 53-8157 and 53-8158
(the one in the picture)

There is a fair amount of pictures and very brief narratives on these four
airplanes but very little on their specifications, performance, how long
they remained in service or how many hours they accumulated, etc. It would
be great if anyone had some more detailed info on these beautiful airplanes.
