A really interesting series, thank you for sharing with us.
The PZL M-15 Belfegor vaguely reminds me of something but I cannot think
what (must have a google and read about it) and the JK-1 Trzmiel must have
been a very interesting thing to fly.

Belfegor: more data http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WSK-Mielec_M-15
_Belphegor
JK-1 Trzmiel: "trzmiel" means "bumblebee", from its description:
Experimental copter. Two ramjets [I think it is not ramjets, but simple
jet] placed on ends of rotor's blades.
Designed in Instytut Lotnictwa (Aviation Institute) by eng. Jerzy
Kotlinski, for military (as observation copter).
At tests conducted in 1957 test pilot died, some tests continued to
1959.
Jets constructed by eng. Wojcicki, thrust 12.5 kG
Rotor diameter: 7.0 m
Length: 2.9 m
Loaded weight: 340 kg
Max speed: 130 km/h
ceiling: 5500 m
range: 20 km
