If it's the road I think I'm looking at on the aerials,
it would seem that there's plenty of scope for compromise.
Mind you, when planners, developers and local authorities
get together, it's doubtful commonsense will prevail.
Besides, I can't see why there's a need for asphalting
anyway. What purpose, and for who's benefit...?

The road in question was newly built in a re-alignment just a few
years ago and it is in good condition. The current plan is apparently
to widen it slightly and remove a bend. It's already closer than it
should be to the end of the runways and the proposed re-alignment
carves a couple of hundred feet from them.
Land development is an issue in the area and you may be astonished to
hear that there are some political maneuverings at play here.
