That was back in the day when people wore their "go to church" clothes to
travel. Airlines served real food, used real plates, used real silverware,
had legroom, etc.

AND the C-47 was considered new and very fast.

I think the C-47 was fairly fast.
One trip, in a different aircraft, that took a while was one from Moffett
Field Naval Air Station in California to Tokyo, Japan in 1947. We went in a
C-54 and the trip took five days!! There were night stops in Hawaii,
Kwajalein, Guam and Johnston Island. It was a MATS flight and they were in
no hurry. I wasn't aircrew, I was a passenger. To put it into
perspective.....we went to Moffet Field from San Francisco. Getting to San
Francisco also was a five day trip.....across the US from Philadelphia by
train. Pullman cars, dining cars, etc made it a real experience. There's
nothing like the French toast the cooks served in the morning on that
train!!
I lived in Japan from when I was four until I was eleven, Tom in Pensacola

Ahhh, the golden age of travel.

I don't go that far back though. I still like the train better than air.

If I was around in those days I'd have been thrown off for bad dress
code, bad table manners, not saying grace....

One day a salesman stopped by the Jammer Jones farm, knocked, and Jammer's wife Frannie came to the door.
"Is your husband home, Ma'am?" he asked.
"Sure is. He's over to the cow barn."
"Well, I got something to show him, Ma'am. Will I have any difficulty finding him?"
"Shouldn't have any difficulties... He's the one with the beard and mustache."
