Have not been to Dayton. Pensacola does present
challenges, but that is part of the fun.

By all means, get to Dayton! Even my "I-don't-care-about-airplanes"
wife was blown away by the exhibit quality. A docent there actually
challenged us to name a general type they didn't have. When I saw the
Stilletto there (I had built a model of it as a kid) and a B 36, I
gave up even trying to think of one. And the collection of Air Force
Ones in another hangar is also amazing (though not as well displayed,
and not air conditioned). To stand in the very spot where LBJ took
the oath of office after JFK's assassination--regardless of what
anybody thinks of either president--will give you pause for sure. (We
also stopped at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland--another
first-rate museum. Plastic airplanes and rock 'n' roll defined my
childhood and early adolescence.)

Did you get to see a P-61 Black Widow? I'd go to Dayton just for that, Tom
who lives five minutes from the Pensacola National Naval Air Museum.
