at buydig.com they have a Pentax lens for the same price as the
tameron 70-300 With the various numbers ,, I don't know if it's
basically the same lens..

Also for the close up lens.. is the one that is usually packaged with
the body a decent one.. or do you recommend body only and different
brand lenses?

Chuck,

If you're referring to the Pentax P-FA 75-300mm f/4.5-5.8 for $130, it's
not considered to be all that good. Pentax makes (or made) an 80-320mm
which is better but it's not listed there. I'd go for the Tamron instead.

For the price, the Pentax 18-55mm kit lens is pretty good; generally
considered better than the Nikon or Canon equivalents. There's a review

A lot of Pentax users replace it with the DA 16-45mm which is bigger and
more expensive but better optically.
