View Full Version : ATTN: Great Basin Glider Pilots: Pilot Missing please help.

August 12th 07, 05:22 AM
Geoff Loyns was flying on Friday and did not get back to Minden.

There is a full search for him in progress right now.
His last transmission at approx 2:45 Friday stated he was between
16500 to 17500ft overhead Jannies Ranch heading south towards the
White Mountains.

Any pilots flying in that area please keep an eye open for any landed
out glider or wreckage of a glider seen in the area.

Geoff would normally start to head Minden around 4-4:30.
He mentioned that day his intentions were to turn Cero Gordo Peak on
the south end of the Inyo's.

If anyone sees anything that might help the search whilst flying in
please contact flight service or try 123.30 or 123.50 to relay
information.

Thanks again anyone who can help or is searching for Geoff our
thoughts are with him.

Regards

Al

Geoff's glider has been found.

I am sorry to announce that he did not survive.
Wreckage was found on Boundary Peak.

That is all the information I have now.

This is a tragic loss to soaring, Geoff was an amazing pilot and a
very good friend.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Regards

Al

I am saddened beyond what words can express.

Geoff was a kind and talented human being and pilot.
He was passionate about cross-country soaring and
accomplished many great flights.

I will miss him in the sky and on the ground.
