you will find the album of 10 pictures taken during 1937 Nationals in
Elmira NY, USA.
Those are the originals, never published anywhere. Author is
unknown as is the original owner of this collection. Please help me
with proper attribution and description of the pictures. Click on any
of them and than post all information you may have in the proper
comment window. It would be great to find out all types of gliders
and at least some of the people in picture. Lets see how much fun we
may have with this piece of gliding history.

1. Richard duPont's Minimoa, now hanging in the National Soaring
Museum.
2. Peter Riedel (wearing parachute) and his Sperber Senior sailplane.

Holderman, wife of Russell Holderman, who was a pilot for Gannett
Newspapers and one of the founders of SSA.

8. The old administration building, which was located where the
National Soaring Museum now stands.

These photos are by Fred Loomis, a professional photographer in Elmira
who took photos at all the contests from 1930 into the 1950s. The
Loomis collection of soaring photographs is now the property of the
National Soaring Museum, and is one of our most valuable and useful
possesions. It was not unusual for Fred to give prints of some of his
photos to contest participants.
