My dads pretty old and worked on airplanes during WW2 and worked for
Curtis prior to that.
he's not very computer literate.
Whats a good news reader for somebody like that?

Newswatcher. http://www.smfr.org/mtnw/
It is freeware and is easy to use. You make up a list of groups that you
wish to view, and it keeps track of read and unread.

BTW, this is for a Mac. If I had the finances I would go for a Mac, but with
living on a fixed income, you all know how it is.

Now there is the question for the night.
SMFR is Simon Fraser University.
I was using that link earlier on to snag an earlier copy of
MT Newswatcher to see if there was any way I could solve this
Yenc thingy.
Annnnnnnndddddddd..... I just clicked on the link and got a message
that says the attempt to load the page failed.
I also bookmarked the page and it too fails to load.
So there is the head scratcher for the day.

You're getting redirected, because:
"Firefox can't find the server at www.smfr.org."
A DNS lookup showed the domain (in Sunnyvale, CA) to be valid until 2011,
so it might be temporarily down.
