View Full Version : New DC ADIZ in Effect

The new DC ADIZ has taken effect. For those who may not know, it has a new,
simpler shape and has a cutout for Leesburg, VA ingress/egress traffic.
There is also an outer ring with a 230kt speed restriction for VFR traffic.
These are all supposed to be charted on the next issue of the Washington
sectional, but the airpsace change is in effect now.
You can learn more about it (and get a "certificate" to demonstrate your
prowess) here:

Although the ADIZ is still silly, this is a real victory for AOPA and
all pilots. For any government agency to admit that they made a
mistake is almost unprecedented nowadays, and we should be grateful to
Boyer and his staff for keeping continual pressure on the "powers that
be"....

I agree Jay. It still amazes me how many pilots refuse to support the AOPA
with even a simple membership. Heck, you even get a darn good magazine at
the very least! It also seems that these same non-supporters are the first
to complain when AOPA comes short of their goal and their flying lifestyle
is affected.
Kudos to the AOPA.

I've always thought anything that could move that fast (excluding
military) would typically be flown IFR, even VMC. No?
