I don't recall how these small size photos came into my possession but I
just ran across them tonight and decided to scan. This plane has "Kelly
Field" painted under the cockpit (had to use a strong magnifying glass) so
assume it is from Kelly in San Antonio. Anybody got any other guesses on
what these are?

The aircraft is a Curtis JN-4D "Jenny". Kelly Field was a training base, and
did use the JN-4D during the time of World War 1.

Thanks for the info. I kinda suspect these were part of a commercial
package of photos rather than being one-of-a-kind personal photos. I just
do not recall how I came into owning them - they were hidden in a box of
"treasures" that I was going through last evening.

Thanks for these pictures! Kelly Field was in Texs; my Uncle Henry Curran
was stationed there in 1918 at flight school. The day he soloed was 11
November 1918.
He went home to Altoona PA and never flew again.
Best regards,

That one looks like the former Jim Nissen Jenny, restored about 30 years
ago, in Livermore, CA. It used to be a regular at West Coast fly-ins,
and accumulated a number of Grand Champion awards.

Several hundred JN-4 "Jenny" aircraft were flown from Kelly Field at San
Antonio to Barron Field at Fort Worth for surplus disposition in 1919 after
the war. The terrain in the picture looks like Barron Field.

Interesting - I didn't know that. There was no identification on the back
of the photo or anywhere else so I just don't know.
