The jeezely great holes on the bow/nose are intakes for turbines. You can see
one of the outlets on the side abaft the cockpit.

Any idea what that turret looking thing is behind the cockpit? Presumably
the mushroom shaped one behind the mystery one is some type of antenna.

Thanks Mike and redc1c4. I thought it look like a turret. I wonder if it
occurred to the Russians that the position of this turret creates quiet a
large defensive blind spot at the rear of the aircraft.

i think it was the Soviet penchant for arming *everything*, whether it made
sense or not....
