Is it possible not to use yEnc in the future, so everybody can enjoy your

yEnc in the compression scheme that is used to make files smaller when
they are transmitted over the Internet, and can be applied to any large
digital file, including music files such as mp3, flac, etc. JPEG, GIF,
etc., and schemes for compression picture files. A JPEG is a JPEG,
whether it's yEnced or not.

Iım not a fan of yEnc, but it's been here for a while and is fairly
common, so any newsreader program worth it's salt should decode it.
Mine does with absolutely no difficulty. Apparently Internet Express
has trouble with it. Can't the geniuses at Microsoft fix this over
their lunch hour?

We *know* we can, but that doesn't mean we *want* or even *have* to. Many
times before people have asked to have binaries posted to ABPA in a plain
readily downloadable format, that everybody can read out of the box, so ABPA
remains as open as possible.

yEnc-ers are smart. I mean: you managed to figure yEnc out, so you're
obviously not stupid. The requests of the general population to not use yEnc
should be a piece of cake for you then, right? :-)

Maybe Microsoft hasn't figured out how to fix it, but others have. Google
"OeyEnc loader". It is a fully functional yEnc decoder plug in for Outlook
Express. Works perfectly. Only takes a few minutes to download. And you'll
never have to wonder what those yEnc photos were again. Plus it's free to
you.

You're buying the wrong boxes. In fact nothing you can buy won't
decode it. Just the free accessory that come with windows has a
problem. But then it has about 50 other problems too, so I feel no
pity for anyone stupid enough to use it.

Or use your brain and get a yenc newsreader (or if you're not that
bright, filter out those with "yenc" in the title). Mind you I'll
probably get Agent not to post with that word in the title, just to
annoy the twerps.

Ways To Be Offensive At A Funeral:

Tell the undertaker that he can't close the coffin until you find your contact lens.
Drive behind the widow's limo and keep honking your horn.
At the cemetery, play taps on a kazoo.
Ask the widow if you can have the body to practice tattooing on.
Put Crazy Glue on the deceased's lips just before the widow's last kiss.
Circulate a petition to have the body stuffed instead of buried.
Tell the undertaker that your dog just died and ask if he can sneak him into the coffin.

I know, it was a JPG file yEnc encoded.

I program computers since 1979.

I am familiar with the terms pixels per inch (ppi). dots per inch (dpi)
lines per inch (lpi)

I know also how to resize and compress files, even how to make a pallet with
reduced colors ets..

The request was NOT to decode in yEnc so everybody could see the pictures.

yEnc is aright if you send very large files, in this case the gain is
minimum.

Oh brother! You all get your panties in a bunch over a picture posted in
yEnc, but when some low-life racist comes in posting about "Africoonia"
a few days ago, barely a peep. Talk about mixed up priorities!

Apples and pears.

The easiest way to stop this frequent flaring up of name-calling (especially
popular, I am sorry to say, among the yEnc crowd) is to mark your files as
yEnc in the filename.
Anyone who doesn"t want yEnc can save loads of time by deleting these files
and not having to download any of them.
yEnc lovers can download to their hearts' desire.

Saves everybodies' time and aggravation.

Folks with confusion about computers can often be educated with a little
effort. Racists usually don't get it even with a 2x4 upside the head...

On the subject of yenc, I just flicked through a batch of yenc photos,
and they popped up over three times faster than the uu ones. Either
it's cause they're smaller, or the processing required is faster.

The encoding is 30% smaller than with Unicode.

The pictures come up instantly in Agent if they're yenced. UUs take
about a second. I'd say the difference is something like a factor of
3 or 4.
