The items on that list were not all mine--I just posted an email I received (after adding a few lines of my own). Please feel free to attach whatever experiences you want to add. I (and others who have "been there") understand those emotions. My experiences in 20 years in the cockpit of Air Force fighters (well, at least they had an F designation) were unexplainable to non-aviators. I decided early in my career that I should be paying the Air Force but I never 'backed up' to the pay window because on a few occasions I earned everything they were paying me. All in all those years were the best hobby a person could have.

It's difficult to adequately express my feelings in response. I am old now, but four decades of piloting are still so vivid that your message was read with an emotion I cannot describe. I have done and experienced so many of the things you describe and have a list of so many others - the aurora borealis out the left window over Greenland inbound to Kef, reaching for the deck ("I know it's there") in the bowl at Zurich in the early morning fog - but you've done it wonderfully and I cannot top your list. Thank you.
