There used to be a man who lived in the town of Mann's Crossing, PA, who
had two pristine Studebaker Golden Hawks in his garage. He had been a
dealer and when he retired he took the cream of the crop with him, the
last year's Golden Hawk production and they were loaded with all the
options. I spent a great afternoon with the gentleman back in the
mid-1980's when doing some genealogy work (Mann's Crossing is named
after one of my ancestors). Unfortunately, like so many other things
which happen when an elderly person dies, the family knew nothing about
the cars other than "those old cars in the garage under those dirty old
tarps" and sent them off to the land fill. I found this out some years
later when visiting Mann's Crossing again. The village postmaster had
the whole story.

People that simply send off "old cars" to the crusher have less than two
brain cells to rub together. The rule of thumb defines anything over
twenty-five years of age may well have appreciated value. Hell, even
some old 'puters are worth money.

But, my favorite gripe is when someone refuses to sell an old car
because he gonna "restore" it someday and the damned thing just
languishes in a field turning into an unusable pile of rust...

When the 1950 Studebakers came out to the showrooms a friend and I went to
look--An elderly lady was there with a beautiful set of Identical girls
about 17 years of age--there were 2 convertibles on the floor--one girl
said"I want this one Grandma" and the other said "I like this one." Grandma
bought both
