And here I thought you were going to say it was because they were kissing a
black ass. I'm so relieved we're over that one.
This whole "close call" business seems to me to be a case of the Union Rep
who Cried Wolf.
Jet airplanes don't travel at the speed of light. They slow down to about
150MPH on landing. At that speed, it takes about 8 seconds to travel 1/2
mile. The two planes, then, were 8 seconds apart.
Perhaps we should blame the DOT next time you are < 2 seconds away from the
car in front of you...
Let's face it. Airlines have too many slots taking off and landing at the
same time because they've all switched to smaller planes and higher
frequencies. Everyone is under pressure to get planes up and down on time.
The ATC job has gotten much harder at bigger airports, and the response by
the FAA has been to hire more controllers, which is not really the
solution. By crying about it now, the Controllers' Union will be able to
say "See, we've been telling the FAA about this for over a year" when it
finally does happen. And they may even get the FAA to hire more membership
dues for them.
But if the Controllers' Union really cared, they would offer a real
solution to the problem, instead of just pointing fingers away from their
members...

Runway incursions are one of the biggest hazards confronting us today, but only a moron of
your rank would go on camera to represent the FAA before all the facts about this incident
can be gathered and assessed. Once the camera is rolling, any semi-competent reporter can
make you look bad if you don't have all the answers.
So tell us, how did incompetent black women cause this one?
