Substitute for Mahogany plywood

Does anyone here know if Lloyds 1088 Marine grade Okoume plywood would be a
good replacement for Aircraft grade African mahogany? The Okoume used water
proof glue and is boiled in water for 3 hours just like Aircraft grade
plywood. The price of mahogany appears to be going through the roof and I
can get the Okoume locally for about 1/4 the price. Thanks for any replies.

Okume is specified on the original Emeraude plans and, to my knowledge, is a
direct substitute for African Mahogany. I don't see it listed in the Forest
Products Laboratory Wood Handbook at
http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/FPLGTR/fplgtr113/fplgtr113.htm, Chapter
10, but I know I've seen the specs listed someplace.
