Hi to all,
I'm curious if anyone has first hand experience with keeping Franklin
engines running? I'm curious about a couple of homebuilts on
barnstormers that are for sale, and I see that some Maule's have them
as well (which a friend of mine in interested in buying) and was
curious if parts are still being made (especially for the 90 hp
version) or if there is any factory support at all? Weren't they being
built in Poland for a period of time? Is the type certificate back in
the US?

Thanks,
Ryan in Madison

Often when you purchase an aircraft with a Franklin engine it comes
with a spare. Seems like Franklin owners like to keep a backup.

No, still in Poland. A friend has a couple of Stinson 108s and he's been
trying to get parts. there was a guy in the US selling engines and parts,
but he ws imposssible to get ahold of . There'a someone new now. I'll ask
my buddy and post that info if I can.

We have run into a lady at Arlington and Oshkosh running a booth selling the
Franklin engines. I was told that she was the USA outlet for Franklins. It
might be possible to find them thru EAA. If you have trouble, let me know
and I will try thru a Stinson driver I know.

If these are any good, it seems like the best deal around to get flying.

Not really a problem if you know where to go. The best suppliers I
found for my Franklin 6 are Susan in TX at 903-626-5115 and Bruce Kown
in GA at 770-386-7435

You can also go to the Franklin news group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/franklinengines/
for more information.
