I inspected 3 sailplanes last week that had been stored in their
trailers and left outside. Two of the ships showed no moisture damage
and one showed rusted components in the cockpit. Guess which two had
solar vents?

Aside from the correlation of vents to damage, is there any reason to
believe the solar vents were an important factor? For example, where
the ships all the same age, stored in the same place, in the same kind
of trailer, made by the same factory?

A Minden fab (metal), a Cobra (fiberglass) and a Polish something or
other (Fiberglass), all left outside, two in the San Francisco bay
area, one in the Sacramento Valley, all ships about 10 years or older.
I just found some blistering on the DG-300 I'm getting ready to re-
finish, checked the solar vent on its metal Cobra trailer and guess
what? I isn't wirking!
