There is one week left to comment on this onerous and fatally flawed
FAA proposal that may cost as much as $17,000 per aircraft with
little to no benefit to the GA community.

My website at StopADS-B.org/ADS.htm gives details. You can also
read about it at aopa.org.

You can read comments, especially the fourth and fifth pages of
comments and get an idea of what you can say. It can be a short
paragraph and not the dissertation I provided.

While I generally agree with the "onerous and fatally flawed" remark, and
have commented against the NPRM as written, I am excited about some of the
"garage" technology spinning off this ADS-B juggernaut.
Especially interesting was the Soaring Society of America's comment
proposing alternative compliance, like the use of portable ADS-B units for
VFR. I imagine these could be like portable GPS with a price point at one
tenth of the panel mounts.

Also mentioned is a SSA technology called FLARM:

and with a bit more surfing showed the following two neat items:

So, while I hate the way ADS-B is being forced down my throat, I see cracks
in the armor and every day the techno-geeks are building new arrows. God
bless them!
