SSA Magazine article

[Bill Daniels]

OK, this is really going to show my age.

I'm looking for a copy of an article by Bruce Carmichael published, I think,
in a 1960 - 1962 issue of Soaring. The title was something like "Limits to
Sailplane Performance".

I'd like to share it with Al Bowers.

If you have it, or just know exctly which issue, let me know.

Might that be in the Bruce Carmichael compendium that the SHA, er, ESA
publishes? I've got a copy, but it's a long ways away from my office.

I was unable to find it on the web.

If you are going to be at the ESA West Workshop this year, you can hand a
copy to Al Bowers yourself. If he doesn't already know of it, I'm sure he
would find it a interesting counterpoint to his SSA Convention presentation.

All I'd like to know is the Soaring Magazine issue date that contained the
article.

I think it might be the "Possibility for a one foot per second sinking
speed" but with a subtitle.

Are you sure you're looking for the right author? That sounds more
like a Paul MacCready topic.

Just got back from a road trip.

Possibles...both long & skimmed. FWIW, I seem to remember Bruce
Carmichael *referencing* 'a MacReady sink-rate-positing' in an older
"Soaring" magazine, but I couldn't find it either.
