Does anyone have any pictures, videos, or transcripts from the Marfa
event held yesterday? Last year I wrote my Senior Honors Thesis on
Marfa 69&70 using Joe Lincolns original notes courtesy of Peter Smith
at the NSM. I would like to update it with material from this event
and then release it publically as well as potentially prepare an
article for the magazine. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
2C
I suspect the crew is recovering and everyone is working their way
home. I havent talked to Matt Michael or Adam Kite yet but they were
having a good time during the wave camp. I have a feeling there will
be a few days of relaxation in order for Burt and the others

Most everyone is now on their way home. There was a great crowd in
attendance and I was very fortunate to also attend this truly
outstanding and historical event. Many photos were taken and a video
crew was there to record the festivities. The video crew also made
video recordings of the recollections and stories that were told by
many of the pilots who flew at Marfa in the 60s' and 70s. I would
strongly recommend that you contact Burt Compton (who along with
Simine Short, Kathie Compton and MANY others did an outstanding job in
organizing this great event), for detailed information and photos.

A few were getting nice flights also. Steve Leonard was flying the
604.

It was indeed a wonderful event, and it's true that most in attendance
are now on their way home, though a few of us diehards are still
hanging around.
Though I'm now 70, I was repeatedly reminded that there is still much
to learn from my elders. Perhaps articles about it, of which there are
already several in preparation, should be entrusted to those who were
there - some just last weekend, some several decades ago.
