I thought this would be simple, but I can't find the answers in the
manual.
1. How many turnpoints can I load into the memory (not the task, but
the turnpoint file)?
2. What NMEA sentences are output to the serial port?
3. Not that I will do it, but can I change the data output to NMEA
sentences other than the default?
Questionable minds want to know.....

According to the articles page on the Cambridge website, the 300
series holds up to 250 "turnpoints".

The Cambridge articles only mention NMEA-0183 output. No mention of
anything else or of any "options" to change it.

Hmmm... Now that I look closer, it seems that info is for earlier GPS-
NAV models. I don't see anything for the newer 300 series.

Here's some good details regarding the data port and NMEA sentences:

Excellent reference! EXACTLY what I was looking for, THANKS!

Hi James,

The 302 and 302A support up to 1500 waypoints.

I don't think there is a way to change the output NMEA sentences.

Below is a data capture from a 302. The 302 send similar data, but no wind
or airspeed data. I believe the !w sentence is not sent by the 302A. It
contains the 302 air data.

!w,000,000,0000,500,01287,01020,-0668,191,199,191,000,000,100*44
$GPRMC,163805,V,4448.5614,N,09333.0117,W,000.0,000 .0,260304,002.1,E*7D
$GPRMB,V,,,Stanton ,,4308.8388,N,09300.9833,W,,,*47
$GPGGA,163805,4448.5614,N,09333.0117,W,0,00,00.0,0 .0,M,0.0,M,,*5F
$PCAIB,00280,00067
$PCAID,N,+00224,000,128*05

I created an Excel spreadsheet a while back that compares the data output
from a 302 and 302A. I'd be glad to e-mail it to you if you send me a note
asking for it.

I'm pretty sure that that's the model 20/25 limit.

Thanks Paul,
I was wondering about the waypoint limitation because I used to have
the impression there was a 250 waypoint limit (don't know where I got
that idea) and had already exceeded that by loading 456 waypoints.
Thanks also for sending the data stream. I'll hook mine up tonight
and play little. I am particularly interested in the PCAID
sentence. I use XCSoar, and it currentlly doesn't properly display
the pressure altitude (always shows zero). I wasn't sure if cambridge
included that in the output datastream, or just recorded it in
the .igc file.
.... and thanks for having so much great information on your
website!
